Been busy doing University stuff! Which by the way, I have a blog on their illustration blog, which I post stuff on from time to time! Check it out here charlottesdoodles.i.socd.io/ .

So in the mean time I have been doing a lot more digital work that I would love to share with you guys! Hope you like it! And I have to get back to doing more uni work!

Until next time!

App-tastic!

Hello! Hope you're all enjoying the sun! I've been out and about and playing with a new app I found called Bamboo paper!

Bamboo paper is made by the well known graphics tablet company Wacom. So as you can guess already this is a beautiful app!

What it is, is a note book style app, that you can write and add photos too, here are a few screen shots of what I have created.

Again if you have a tablet that can support this app, I really recommend you download it! It's really good for making mixed media idea pages that you can send to friends via social networks.

Let's get digital!

So I have recently acquired my sisters old iPad one and been playing candy crush on it none stop! However today I started to use it for its intended purpose! I downloaded a few apps for drawing and this is one of the better ones I have produced, in keeping with my old hand drawn style.

It's really fun and interactive and if you have an iPad I highly recommend this it's called graphite lite!

As I have more time now after handing in my work I think I will be doing a few of these drawing and posting up the better ones.

Well done to Andy Murray and to the English weather for finally pulling through!

Why Onions are...

This is one of my new comics, Why onions are dic*heads.

Pardon the crude photoshopping, as I dont have access to an A3 scanner, I had to do it in parts.

Hope you like it, if you think I should carry on this series, please leave a comment! :)

Back after a long break!

Sorry about the really long break, it was down to a few personal and family matters that caused me to take a break from this all. However it's summer I have many projects to do so expect a lot more stuff to be posted up here!

One project is food narratives! Here is a sneak peek of one!

This is from a short comic strip called 'why onions are dickheads.' I'll post the final pice when I finish it! It's currently in the development phase, and even after this project I may carry it on, as I think it will be an amusing piece to play with.

However I must get back to doing more artwork, just thought I'd update you all!

Have a great Sunday!

Me, Myself and I

As you have probably guessed, this is me! I decided to draw myself from a photo I took before a night out, hence the fancy hair..Somewhat!
This one is similar again to the others, however I really added detail to the hair as I drew it without detail and it looked like I had placed a pastry on my head! Which is no good! I also emphasised some facial features with shading lines, to add some definition to the face.

I think next one I am going to paint the face with acrylic, just as I haven't painted with acrylic in years and I really want to get back into that style again, but using the new found style, and trying to find a happy medium between the two.

Little one

This is my little sister Katie Lawrence! She looks quite a bit like me, even been mistaken for my twin, even though she is 3 years younger than me.

This one, because she is so young has a even better effect with the pink cheeks, it adds an innocence and wonder to her eyes and the whole look. I particularly like the hair the most, I like how it is just an outline, I think this looks really effective.

Flashback

This is Elena Cruickshank, she is a friend from high school, and this drawing is from a old photo I found on my SD card, I took this during ALevel and decided to use it now.

This piece was a mix of both biro pen and photoshop. I think the use of mixed media in this one works well and looks quite in keeping with the other pieces however it has a more refined and finished look to it compared to the others.

I also like the blue on pink contrast, I think that works well in the overall look of it.

Here's lookin (up to) you kid.

This is my older sister Amy!

I really quite like how I drew this one. What I like the most I think is the pink cheeks and noses, I think this add an innocence and vulnerable quality to the drawing. Also with the original image, she was on the phone, so I drew it out.
Another thing I thought worked well was the hair and the mouth, I think not drawing in the detail of the teeth made it look better than if I did. The same thing with the hair, less detail looks better than too much, too much detail can make it look messy and unfinished.

Thank god for putting 2 together

This is my mum and dad! The wonderful creators of me! :D

This one I played with pastel and simple lines to create quite a cute look, with the pink noses and red cheeks! I really quite like this and think I will play with it some more!

I have had to hand in my 50 faces book, but I managed to scan a few in before I handed it in, so the few I have I will post over the next 2 weeks!  I may even draw some new ones if I'm feeling cray cray. :D

Life Drawing

On my course we have been doing life drawing classes with Stephen Fowler, I have really loved these lessons so far! So much better than my ALevel life drawing. I've been really able to experiment and play with my drawing style, and I've produced some interesting results.

Here are the ones from today, I'll post my earlier ones later on, when I have access to the macs and scanners at my library, as it's dissertation week and the library is a no go zone for 1st years!

Event a day catch up!

So I've been doing my event a day project and I haven't uploaded any since my first post! So here are a few of the better ones I have done.

After my tutorial I've been told to play with typography and backgrounds, so hopefully I should some visually interesting stuff! :D

Say Cheese!

This is Laurence Stark, another talented photographer at the SU.
I quite like how this one is just fine liner and pencil, I don't quite know how to describe the style, it looks like a mix of realism and cartoon? However I think it works really well. I think though if I rubbed out the pencil it would look really weird and un finished.

iDraw

This is Andy Squire, Communication & Media Coordinator at the SU.
I quite like this one as it was originally of him looking through the case of a broken iPhone and it looked like one of those cleverly edited photos, so I used the iPhone as a frame and only drew what was inside the frame to create this drawing. I quite like it and think it makes for an interesting drawing.

Smile!

This is Laura Hodgson, first year illustration student.

I went back to my original quick sketch style for this one, just as a warm up.

Away with the elves

This is Sophie Hatton, talented first year illustration student and avid LOTR fan!

Again, I am really pleased with the outcome of this drawing. I think the use of shading in this one was far more successful, as it looks more 32 and human in a sense.

Worlds No.1 Boss

Major kiss ass title, I know. However she is a pretty awesome boss, this is Emma Wood UCA SU Venue Manager, and former UCA student!

This is the first time I have used letraset pens, and I am really pleased with how well they work. The photo I drew from was originally in blak and white so I had the freedom to play with colours and layers. Overall I think this was a successful drawing.
